"As I begin one of my new plein air paintings, I get excited about the composition and colors before me.  As I continue painting, there is an indescribable thrill concerning the formation and composition in the colors and light. I begin a journey, an adventure, to find treasures, hidden treasures; how shadows form a complexity of color, and shape, and how lines are formed with the illumination of light.  Days later when the painting is completed, I can see how my paintings have similarities in color, but each has its own inner mood.  Two different paintings painted at dusk promote absolutely different structure.  A minute difference in light changes the color and even the shape of what I see and convey to my canvas."
